Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find thunder cultures?

You can find us at both the Point Loma Farmers Market (Saturdays, 9am–1pm) and Cardiff Farmers Market (Saturdays, 10am–2pm). We also offer delivery within North County, San Diego, and pickup in South Carlsbad! For delivery or pickup orders, just reach out to us at thundercultures@gmail.com.

D0 you sell it online?

Not at this time, but you can preorder online for pickup at the market! Just place your order, and we’ll have it ready for you to pick up when you stop by.

How much does it cost?

Our 8oz containers are $6 each, or you can grab two for $10. Quarts are available for $15 each.

Is it a yogurt?

Essentially, yes! However, the FDA defines yogurt as needing two specific strains of bacteria. Since Thunder Cultures is cultured with only Lactobacillus Reuteri, we can’t legally call it yogurt.

How much should I eat?

We recommend enjoying about 1/2 cup per day. Eat it on its own, or top it with your favorite fruits and granola—or blend it into a smoothie for something extra special!

How long does it stay fresh and how should i store it?

It stays fresh for up to 3 weeks in the fridge. Just keep the lid on to avoid contamination, and avoid double dipping to help maintain its freshness! If you're planning to enjoy it all in one go, go ahead!

Are there any side effects?

You might experience a “cleanse” effect the first few times you try it, like more frequent or looser bowel movements. This is normal as your body adjusts.

Is it safe for kids or moms-to-be?
Absolutely! L. reuteri is found naturally in breast milk, so it’s especially great for little ones. It's part of our family's daily routine, and we enjoyed it throughout pregnancy.
Is it Vegan or dairy-free?
Thunder Cultures contains dairy, so it’s not vegan or dairy-free. However, many people who are lactose intolerant or sensitive to dairy have told us they’ve had no issues with our yogurt, thanks to the traditional fermentation method that removes most of the lactose.
Is it Gluten-Free?
Yes! Thunder Cultures is naturally gluten-free, making it a great option for those with gluten sensitivities.
